Dorms and Gadgets in My University

Dorms look like the heart of a campus sim and behave like a scoreboard. You can set lights-out, mix four-, six-, and eight-bed rooms, and hang air-conditioners, campus net, robot vacuums, and humidifiers. None of that prints the first surplus. The canteen does. Power cutoff is a study slider

Lights-out is not flavour. Early cutoff protects rest and can dent late-night study. Late cutoff keeps lamps on and can raise fatigue. There is no single holy hour that fits every rank. Vocational classes tolerate a stricter clock. Graduate tracks want more lamp time. Change the slider when the evaluation panel starts complaining about sleep or focus, not because a screenshot looked dark. The habit is to pick a time in year one and leave it alone until a rank gate or a wave of complaints names the problem.

Room mix is similar. More beds per room house more paying bodies for less concrete. Smaller rooms look kinder and cost more lots. Principals who last usually expand the bed count once and ride that footprint through 985. A second expansion is a luxury you buy after the library title and the sports halls are already moving. Filling every gadget slot on a tiny footprint is how a year-three campus goes broke with a pretty corridor.

Gadgets are C-tier on purpose

Air-conditioners and campus net raise a composite comfort score. They also bill you every month. Early campuses should leave gadgets at level one or skip them. Charge what the panel allows when students move in; the wool comes from the sheep, as player notes put it, but only if those students already pay tuition you set on the enrollment planner. A maxed humidifier does not replace a public shop.

Build gadgets when the kitchen is quiet and the white school icon is not screaming. That is the same rule as postcard furniture. If you feel poor, you are not in the gadget window. If you feel rich and the icon still wants a library title, you are still not in the gadget window.

How dorms talk to ranks and events

Some evaluations mention housing quality. That is a reason to keep beds from overflowing, not a reason to gold-plate year two. Random events that offer dorm renovations or vendor leases should go through the event advisor. A lease that occupies a lot you wanted for a shop is a trap even if the tooltip pays a tip.

Dorms also sit next to clubs. Comfort can help recruitment at the margin. Course pressure near 400 still does more. Do not rebuild housing to fix a club that is empty because you set pressure to a graduate number in year one.

A spend order you can say out loud

Year one: enough beds that incoming classes are not sleeping on the lawn, lights-out set, gadgets ignored. Years two and three: one expansion if the icon or the bed counter asks, still no toy race. Years four to ten: fill gadgets after stoves, public shops, library rating, and the sports unlock window. The first-decade checklist now has a box that says this in fewer words.
